Fame and Fortune - The Special Paint Models

For the first time ever, you can now see all six of the 1968 Shelby special paint colors represented on the cars!
From front to back; WT 5185 special orange (Calypso Coral), WT 5014 special orange (Grabber Orange), WT 5107 special orange (Mustard), WT 7081 special green, WT 4017 special red and WT 6066 special yellow.

I am very pleases to direct you to the Acme Diecast webpages. They have just announced the final special paint Shelby. The WT 5107 completes the series of all six special paint cars! I have been working with ACME models for a long time on these special paint cars. Last fall I sent them the final paint sample.

Acme also has some really great GT40 models and few other 1968 Shelbys.

I must say, ACME did an awesome job on the Coralsnake WT 5185 model. They got a lot of things correct! I understand this one of the first 1968 Shelby models with the correct hubcaps! The Coralsnake was one of the first concours Gold cars shown with hubcaps!

Here is the next car in the series. Only eight GT350 fastbacks were painted WT 6066 / Special Yellow.

The third release was the WT 5014 special paint GT 500 KR. Only one GT 500 KR is known to have been painted this color. The factory records show only two 1968 Shelbys in this color! The color would later be called "Grabber Orange"

The special Green Shelby turned out great! It's amazing the factory let these cars slip through production at all.

This special paint model was the special red. All six colors are available and it turned out to be a great series!
