2011 Mid-America Team Shelby Nationals, Tulsa, OK
This year's Shelby Team Nationals was an event to remember. I have said numerous times the quality of the cars is improving. In the 1968 concours, three cars
were entered and all three finished with top honors. The concours cars from other years were equally spectacular. I suspect all of these cars
will continue to win awards.
Kirt's GT350 is nothing short of spectacular. I have had the pleasure to judge the car twice and it was even better the second time. It competes in the no reproduction
part classes. The car won the Heritage Elite Diamond Award.

Tim's been to the rodeo before. His GT350 was very nice. The car only lost one point on authenticity. That means it was technically correct. I see the triple crown in his future very soon.
Tim's car won SAAC Gold just a few weeks ago and scored the Heritage Diamond Award (Team Shelby equivalent).

Ben's car was my personal favorite. The special paint is always a homerun. A big block with AC is a challenge for even the most experienced restorers. Ben managed to snag the Heritage Diamond Award.
I can't recall the last time someone showed up with ten spoke wheels, which is a good thing, because the hubcaps look marvelous.

Rick's car is super rare. The 1967 Shelby has smog and air conditioning. It also took honors. Cars compete against a standard, not each other.

My pal, Arild, had a hand in this car. The orange car looks factory new and did very well. The owner, Jim, reports a Diamond Award.
Here are few more pictures from the show. I know I missed several of the 1968s this year. Not having my camera didn't help matters. :-(

Here one of the judge's takes some time to share some ideas with the owners.

This gold car was a very nice car. The owner was thinking about a run at the concours classes. He has a real nice head start. Meeting with other car owners and doing alot of research is the way to go.

Dave is a Tulsa veteran. Everytime I see his car he has tweaked it a little closer to correct. He also likes to drive the car.

No matter what flavor you like, small block.....

or big block, you can find it in Tulsa.
