Town and Country Ford in Charlotte, North Carolina was located at 4120 East Independence Boulevard.
This Shelby needed a new molding. Mr Liska is very good at coming up with factory paperwork.
I always tweak the paperwork a bit, to discourage the evil-doers. If you are looking for original
artwork to fabricate that dealer invoice, be careful. I have actually seen people try to pass off
AM/FM radios, 427 engnes and "factory" tenspokes with false invoices. :-(
There is always extra credit for the dogs. This car # 444 then...
and now....looks like brand new! The car was sent to a non-franchise dealership.
Free hot dogs and a mink coat ! I'm on my way. This 1968 advertisement doesn't show any Shelbys.
This 1968 GT350 Hertz car spent it's early days at the Charlotte airport.
This car has something interesting. That's the knob that was supposed to be on all GT500 KR 4spds.
It's unclear why it never made it to full production.
I figure about 50 Shelbys ended up at Town and Country Ford. They were almost all 1968s and 1969s.
My favorite color on a 1969. This car # 988.
This is # 1088. It sported fuel injection for a short time and now is back to its original carburetor.
The car was originally Black Jade.
This is the original owner with car # 1485. Apparently, Ruth, the librarian, had a sporty side :-)
Sometimes people like to play hide and seek with the serial numbers on cars. I like to figure those out. ;-)
This one came from Town and Country.
This Shelby invoice includes the decklid letters. They were $2 for the full set of six. Now they are $200.
I found a couple references to Bruton Smith having an office at the dealership. Mr Smith started the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
He also owned Speedway Motors. They own a number of large race tracks across the country. Smith was also involved in Sonic Motors, a company that owns
several dozen new car dealerships. If that wasn't enough, he started Frontier Ford in Rockford, Illinois in 1966.

Jim sent a long this dealer badge. It is mounted on his 1969 Shelby below the rear bumper.
Town and Country Ford does not exist in its original location. However, there is a dealership with the same name in Charlotte.
I don't believe this dealership is a direct decendant of the original.
